橫越北美大陸即將抵達終點的火車
穿過了晨間的森林
時值冬日，白雪
覆蓋了整個國度，
大自然的這座宮殿
空氣清澈碧藍
我這飄泊者不禁懷疑：
還有什麼更偉大的目標
非往首都華盛頓去尋？
而無法在
別的城市、別的國度找到？
乃至能超越
體現造化之完美的今日
這座晨間森林？
但正如來自這片遼闊大陸的
詩人佛洛斯特
我亦得向前行，我
亦有約，我在彼處
亦有承諾要守

Pada hari ketiga
(di hutan Connecticut atau Virginia)
Menjelang akhir pelintasan benua kereta
api menembus hutan pagi.
Musim dingin dan salju
meliputi seluruh negeri.
Alam raya istana kerajaan
udara biru bening.
Pengembara ragu:
Adakah tujuan lebih agung di
sana, di Washington D.C.?
belum ketemu
di lain kota, di lain negeri?
melebihi
kesempurnaan hari penjadian di
hutan pagi ini?
sama penyair Robert Frost
dari benua mahaluas ini
Aku harus pergi Aku
ada janji Aku pun ada
janji yang harus
ditepati.

On the third day
(in the woods of Connecticut or Virginia) Towards
the end of a transcontinental journey the train
pierces the morning woods.
Winter and snow
cover the entire country. The
world, a royal palace with a sky
of translucent blue.
The wanderer asks himself:
Is there a more noble purpose
there, in Washington, D.C.?
one not found
in another city, in another country?
surpassing
the perfection of creation day in
the woods this morning?
as with Robert Frost the
poet of this vast land
I must go
for I have promises to keep
Yes, I do have promises to keep
ones I must fulfill.
