在百老匯街與威佛利巷的路口
(就像在峇里島的沙努爾那樣) 當妳
消失
在車流中
我並沒有別離感
紐約就是妳
妳是季節，妳是海洋
隨時歡迎訪客
只要是在繁忙的日程之外或在
變換愛情
以配合都會時尚的空檔
直到記憶襲來
就像現在
我在我愛人的臂彎裡
回想起
妳在妳愛人的臂彎裡
那晚妳的愛人正等在
妳的住處，即便我們就分手在
那條街的轉角
真訝異——現在仍感忌妒——
記憶中的火焰更為熾烈
妳仍舊是妳嗎？
我仍舊是我嗎？躺在
昔日的那張床上
我被燒盡在
同樣的烈火中嗎？

(we might as well have been in Sanur, Bali!)
when you vanished
in the flow of traffic
I did not feel that we had parted
For New York is you.
You are the seasons, you are the ocean
ready to welcome
between activities
and changing lovers
as befits cosmopolitan norms,
until the moment of remembrance
as now
in the embrace of my love
thinking of you
in the arms of your lover
who that night was waiting in
your room, even as we parted
at the street corner
What a surprise to still feel jealousy a
flame burning brighter in remembrance
Are you still you,
am I still I?
stretched across
the old bed,

di pojok Broadway/Waverley Place
(seperti di Sanur-Bali saja) ketika kau
lenyap
di arus lalu lintas
aku tak merasa berpisah
New York adalah kau.
Kau musim, kau laut
siap didatangi
di sela-sela kesibukan dan di
antara cinta bergantian
sesuai adat kosmopolitan,
sampai saat terkenang
seperti sekarang
dalam pelukan cintaku
teringat
kau dalam pelukan pacarmu
yang malam itu menanti
di kamarmu, saat kita
berpisah di pojok jalan
Heran —masih bisa cemburu—
terbakar api lebih ganas dalam
kenangan
Apakah kau masih kau,
aku masih aku? terbujur
di ranjang lama,
hangus terbakar api
yang sama?
