New York selalu siap menunggumu di subway. Dan
kau mulai mengerti tak ada siang hari, mulai
mencari-cari sesuatu yang tak pernah kaupunya
di kantung celana. Tetapi tak juga kau ditegurnya
tidak sewaktu gemuruh gerbong-gerbong mencoba
menyisihkan waktu, tidak sewaktu terinjak olehmu
rambut si pemabok yang telungkup di lantai itu,
tidak sewaktu si hitam membisikkan kata-kata tajam itu.

New York is always ready, waiting for you on the subway. And
you beginning to understand there is no day, begin to search
in the pockets of your trousers for something
you never owned. But he does not approach you
