In Situational Irony "a set of circumstances turns out to be the reverse
of what is appropriate or expected" (Hoeper, 49). A good example would be the
"The Rime of Ancient Mariner" by Coleridge. In the poem the narrator wearing
an albatross, after his fellows died, finds that although he is so thirsty and
there is so much water around him, he cannot taste a bit because it is the
water from the sea.
