"Song of the prisoner in the tower." THE PRISONER Thoughts are free. Who can guess them? They filt past like shadows in the night. No man can know them, no hunter shoot them down. So shall it always be; thoughts are free. THE GIRL In summer it is fine to make merry On the wild mountain heights. Where there is many a little green glade, My own heart's dearest love, I long never to be parted from you. HE And though I am locked fast in a gloomy prison cell All that is in vain, For my thoughts break my bonds And shatter my prison walls. Thoughts are free. SHE In summer it is fine to make merry On the wild mountain heights. Here you can be quite alone, On the wild mountain heights. And hear no children's cries. The air is fresh and free. HE Let that be as it will; whatever should defall, Let it be done in silence And stillness. My wishes and longings no one can restrain, So may it always be; thoughts are free. SHE My love, you sing si happily here, Like the bird in the meadow. I stand sadly by the prison door. Would I were dead or at your side. Must I weeping never end? HE Since you are weeping so, I forswear your love. Then and only then Nothing can harm me. So in my heart I can laugh and jest forever. So may it always be. Thoughts are free. -- if music be the food of love, tho' yet the treat is only sound. Sure I must perish by your charms, unless you save me in your arms. ---- Heveningham/Weichin Chen -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 61.226.56.108
