The Homecoming
Taxi pulls up outside the decaying building
As the rain trickles down the windowpane.
'Keep the change.'
Step outside onto the cold wet pavement,
Water seeping through the shoes
Too dear to replace.
You slam the door and he pulls away.
Clutching your bag you make your way
Slowly up the stone steps.
Hand trembles as you place the key in the lock.
You stop.
Close your eyes.
Grit your teeth.
The anger consumes you
Blurring reality into selfpity.
Turn the key.
Step over the threshold.
Open your eyes.

這位是大約五年前鼓勵我寫詩的那位朋友, 可以說是我的 mentor,
這是她停筆三年之後的第一篇作品.
