When I recollect how my four-year prime Had expired, as sundry thoughts haunt my night, In false vision of entombed delight, Weep I as an exile missing his home clime. My weary soul is shrouded by the grime Of aged and sophisticated insight; The faraway innocence pure and bright Is unseen in the hideous social slime. So now I muse upon my bygone past: If granted another academic dream In that juvenile realm, must I not be Whipped in gasps by gaudy scores and degree, But more appreciative glimpses I shall cast Upon green hills, purging rain and sweet stream! -- Rage, rage against the dying of the light!
