"Song of Existence"
Every day, we are nearing the expiration of existence.
To defy the inevitable, we write
In one form or another.
Words fascinate me; they are the greatest creation of mankind.
I am no bard, yet sing and celebrate what is given to me,
Mimicking Whitman as well as calling him names,
In a mood melancholy or elevated,
With a sense of longing or losing, I write, and to seek
The meaning within the lines
And I gaze into the stars,
Which they say is the surviving image of what was once very much alive and
Aglow.
Something which we presume to be there was long gone.
Like some precious thought, transient or ephemeral, or half-materialized,
Is always greater than the tangible; it captures the moment and
Dies, frozen into the ember of time.
So I framed Horowitz’s picture within the clock.
He plays Time, the music that is all
To all who hear and who reap
The teardrops of madness,
Solitude against existence.
