Fame draws me in
like honey, a sweet visage
                           or facade
                                     I desire to unveil.

We met at the bar,
me nursing a beer, you
a soda, the straw floating to the top every time
I quiet my heartbeat, that beating heart.

A walk through the jungle of cement and concrete
                                                 and asphalt, oh sweet asphalt,
leaving littered behind us ghosts of laughter
and indelible smiles. Do you remember
the ice cream cone
that pointed towards the sky higher than my adrenaline level?
Or the way your pumps clicked like horseshoes
                                              on the asphalt, oh sweet asphalt.

I remember, forever will, your silhouette
at the gates of the dorm that I cannot enter,
the sun blinding my eyes
as you blind my heart.

And with a bow,
I depart.
