At last.
The warmth of darkness shrouds my penitence,
and angry streetlights glare at my resolve.

I back into the night,
into the listless pulsation of burning black flame,
never to grieve again for sorrow forgotten.

When no one can see me,
I become invisible.
There is company in loneliness,
or will these too fade into black?

Mystery is forthcoming; the garrulous crave flight.
But seagulls graze your feet.
But pelicans touch your lips.
And ostriches and peacocks surround you, surround you.

Then I look up.

An explosion of tears meets my eyes,
angelic spheres, glistening,
bearing the unbearable sorrow of a sinful world.

And seraphims spread your wings.
And Gabriel sounds a castanet.
But demons start dancing to spite you, to spite you.
