Onward, ever onward, I search for my lost soul, through field and forest, desert plains, snowdrifts, marshes, quarries, swamps ----onward, ever onward; I search for my lost soul. A dreary night, a rainy night it was, when by candlelight I had laid down to sleep, perchance to dream. And in that dream, I met a lady fair as the night sky. We walked a few words, talked a mile by farms and river streams, and as we neared a fork in the road, both ways obscured by brush and wood, she said, Do you love me? and I nodded. She placed my hand upon her cheek, closed her eyes, and sighed; then grasped me by the wrists and ----mirabile dictu! I felt my soul drain through my eyes. And then she spoke these words: Close your eyes and turn around. and I did as she said. True love will always find a way, she said, to meet again, this world or next; I shall wait for you to find me. And then I awoke, awoke again to this dreary, rainy night, and beside my bed the candlelight, the wax puddled on stand and floor; and I felt my soul had fled. Silence reigned for half the night. So now I trek across the land, through sleet and snow and hail and rain and quicksand, rockslide, avalanche to find my wanderlusted soul; where it has gone, only she knows. Onward, ever onward. -- 英語文工作室 http://www.wretch.cc/blog/jsengstudio/ 個板 defenestrate -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.7.214
