How many millions of words do we read each day?
In books and magazines, on blogs and news feeds,
In subtitles, on ads, menus, road signs----
And how little of that
means anything!
We simply brush off these words
Like so much dandruff. Throwaway words.
And then you read an Ebert review,
Which you think is about a movie,
And it catches you off-guard,
It flies under your radar until you suddenly see what it's really about:
Love, life, happiness.
Then it hits you like a ton o' bricks----you get the shivers,
Your eyes tear up, jaw drops,
And you want to see that movie (again),
just to see what he saw.
All under a thousand words.
