Please?

if I sat at a redwood picnic table
overlooking the river where
the cattle come to drink and
wrote about the way the current
played with light and the
water assuaged the dry tongues
of the livestock but
never mentioned

GOD;

or if I wrote of the love of a woman,
golden tresses like wheat before the harvest,
eyes deeper than the soul,
a laugh to make the birds sing and
a song to make the old men laugh
but wrote no allegory and
categorically insisted it was only
about the woman and
never mentioned

GOD;

or if I took on corporate greed,
hypocrites in corner offices and
presidents in penthouses,
showed the judges taking bribes,
the clerics inflated with pride,
and chewed on Republican bones for a while
instead of left-wing-liberal-culture-destroying
unwitting-tools-of-evil-Democrats
but did not quote chapter and verse and
never mentioned

GOD;

would I still be a Christian writer?

could I still be a Christian poet,
