"Finialities"
Please comfort the wilting daisy,
Dying in the heat of day;
Weep for the fading sun,
Its waning golden rays.
Grasp for moments that must become
Memories of the past;
For a first love that is, in the end,
A first love, and the last.
Why will you cry for the mortal body,
Rotting under dirt;
Yet forget the immortal soul,
Lingering between hell and earth.
Question God and question Heaven,
Doubt that either exist;
Wonder how They can be
Superior to Love's last kiss.
Why must some days end
With a smile, contented sighs;
And others must stretch into nights
Of tortured gasps, unanswered cries.
Annie
