Lowe Alpine已經與日本的合作夥伴“Unitika
Industries“工作了超過了2年的時間,
為的是要讓這個材質更加具有防水性、透氣性、耐久性,
並且在97年的春天達成目標。
> WHY THE WORD TRIPLEPOINT CERAMIC
> Triplepoint is the point at which a substance coexists in three states-
> as a liquid (water), as a gas (vapor) and as a solid (ice).
> The triangular symbol is devised from the graphical representation of
> this point. CERAMIC, refers to the billions of microscopic silicon dioxide
> particles added to the liquid polyurethane before it is applied to the
> face fabric.
為啥要取名為TRIPLEPOINT CERAMIC?
Triplepoint是指物質的固、液、汽三點。
CERAMIC是代表數兆個微小的二氧化矽分子加進去液態的聚氨脂(polyurethane),
來製成表面的布料。
> DESCRIPTION
> TRIPLEPOINT CERAMIC; is a unique polyurethane (PU) coating, containing
> microscopic pores formed around ceramic particles which is integrated into
> specially woven Nylon face fabrics.
> The TRIPLEPOINT CERAMIC coating is not a straightforward microporous PU.
> Unlike traditional microporous structures, its pores are smaller and more

TRIPLEPOINT CERAMIC是塗磨上一層獨特的PU製劑,包含有微小的孔洞,
並且吃進尼龍纖維中,其孔洞包含有陶瓷粒子,
TRIPLEPOINT CERAMIC的塗膜,並不是一個很明顯,具多孔性的PU製品,
不像傳統的多孔性構造。它的孔洞是更小、更多,
並且有特殊的材質作為第二層的覆膜,來增加耐久性及防水性,
這結合高科技的覆膜與特殊設計的表面的纖維,是屬於獨一無二的Lowe Alpine公司。
> DOUBLE COAT PROCESS
> The TPC coating is actually a high tech combination of two different
> coatings. Layer #1 is a hydrophobic (water repelling) microporous PU coating.
> Layer #2 is a thinner hydrophilic (water attracting) monolithic (non-porous)
> coating. The silicon dioxide particles are added to the liquid polyurethane
> in layer #1 which increases the porosity and therefore the breathability.
> The second coating increases waterproofness and protects the microporous
> coating beneath it from becoming clogged by dirt and oils.
雙層的覆膜步驟:
這TPC(布料)的覆膜是一項高科技,結合了兩項不同的覆膜,
第一層是厭水性並且多孔性的PU覆膜,
第二層是薄的親水性、整體性(不具滲透性)的覆膜,
二氧化矽的粒子是加入第一層液態的PU層中,來增加孔洞及透氣性,
第二層的覆膜增加了防水性,並且保護孔洞,避免受到灰塵及油汙的影響。
> A durable water repellent finish is an integral part of any
> waterproof/breathable system. The breathability of any waterproof/breathable
> fabric will be severely restricted if either the face fabric on the outside
> ets outor the internal lining absorbs water. Water absorbed in this way
> greatly inhibits water vapor from passing through. We treat the external
> face fabric with a powerful DWR finish to prevent absorption and ensure
> rapid runoff of rain. The advanced state of coating technology allows us to
> bathe the fabric twice with an advanced DWR. Laminated fabrics can only be
> sprayed. As you will see, this gives TPC a distinct performance advantage.
一個完整的布料潑水性,是防水性、透氣性系統的主要部份,
所有透氣/防水性纖維當其內層襯裡吸收水分,會受到嚴重的限制,
水分的吸收,會抑制水蒸汽通過。
我們(指LOWE公司)是在外層塗個有效的DWR,來預防內層的吸水
及確定水分的滑落。
這加強的覆膜技術是靠著浸泡具有增強效果的DWR。每片布料都可單獨浸泡。
所以您可以看到此布料具有明顯的增強功效。
> FABRIC INFORMATION
> TRIPLEPOINT CERAMIC is available in two weights; 1600S used in areas of high
> wear and 1200S used in areas where overall weight is the primary concern.
> The face of 1600S, because of its extra weight, is more abrasion resistant
> than 1200S and is used in garments or areas where particularly high wear is
> anticipated.
來自纖維的訊息:
此種布料有兩種厚度;1600S(較耐磨)、1200S
1600S的表面是加厚的,所以較1200S耐磨

> ADVANTAGES OF COATINGS OVER LAMINATES
> Ceramic coatings are not glued or cemented to the fabric; they have become
> part of the fabric. Delamination, a common problem with laminates,
> cannot occur.
陶瓷性的覆膜不是使用黏著劑來黏上去纖維的,它已經成為纖維的一部份,
所以不會有分層的情況發生,
> The manufacturers of laminated waterproof/breathables face the following
> dilemma. Laminates need to be of a 3-layer construction to maintain a high
> enough level of durability for the outdoors. A 3-layer fabric has two major
> problems.
> A. Pocket construction necessitates the use of at least two pieces of
> fabric which overlay each other making that area virtually unbreathable.
> B. The inner face of a 3-layer fabric is absorbent. Initially this has the
> effect of absorbing condensation which gives the appearance of a dry inner
> surface. This effect severely inhibits the breathability of the fabric.
傳統分層的防水透氣布會遇上一些問題,他們必須使用三層的構造,
來維持戶外活動的耐久性,這些問題有:
A.口袋的構造需要使用兩層布料,會使此區域不透氣。
B. 三層布料的內層具有吸水性,剛開始可以保持內層的乾燥,
但會嚴重抑制纖維的透氣性,
> Because of its structure and the fact that we can combine 1600S and 1600S
> and use a hydrophobic (non-absorbent) lining, we have created what could be
> described as a single shell principle (no patching of one fabric over
> another.
因為傳統布料有以上的事實,所以我們發明了1600S、1200s兩個布料,
內層使用不具吸水性的材質,這也是為啥我們布料稱為一層的原因
(不是拼湊兩種纖維)
> This enables our designers to concentrate on zip accessed venting as a
> functional element in our overall system of breathability. This design
> philosophy is present in all our garments. We use Dryflo餠mesh to construct
> our pockets. Dryflo mesh has been specially engineered to promote the passage
> of moisture-laden air, it will not soak up excess moisture and therefore will
> not inhibit the flow of water vapor. There are certain conditions where any
> fabric -no matter how breathable- will cause condensation. Venting helps to
> remove excessive condensation while maintaining the integrity of the garment.
我們並且設計拉鍊部份也具有透氣性(這具不好翻譯!)
這個設計在我們公司所有的衣服都可見到。
我們使用Dryflo材質作成的網孔,構成我們的口袋,
Dryflo這種材質是特別設計用來幫助水蒸汽的通過,所以不會吸收過量的水汽,
也不會抑制水汽的流動,這樣的設計,使得沒有其他材質具有如此的透氣性,
孔洞也可以幫助移除過量的水汽,來維持衣物內部的完整性。
註:Dryflo也是LOWE自行研發的布料,我穿過它,感覺好過coolmax....屬於排汗布料)
