The Federal Law grants you access to your letters of recommendation, but
I recommend that you waive your right to read the letter when given
the option to do so. Waiving your right assures the Admissions readers
that the recommender has written a candid letter.
Confidential letters carry far more weight with Admissions readers,
because a writer will always be far more comfortable writing a
complete and candid letter about you when they know you will not
have access to it.
