Hi, For some reason, I can't type chinese here. So, if you're interested in RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute), please try to be patient. Thank you! We're having less and less Taiwanese students every year, and we figure out we're not doing a good job "commercializing" our school. Since RPI is a private school, many people have the impression/bias, "It's fxxxing expensive!" It's true! The tuition is expensive, but if you're willing to do a PhD, this is a really good place to stay. PhD students "all" have full-TA/RAship here which means you don't have to pay the tuition and you'll also have a certain amount of stipend which can cover your living expense. Fortunately, Troy (this is where the school is) is a small town, so the living expense is cheap. But it doesn't mean that there's no entertainment here. The capital of NYS, Albany, is 20-min drive from Troy and Latham is also a good place to go. Here you can experience American life but when you have home sick and really really want to have some Taiwanese food. NYC is 2.5 hr drive and Boston is the same. The Taiwanese population is rather small here, but we try to celebrate all kinds of holidays together. Our activities include BBQ, hotpot, karaoke, hiking, horse-racing gambling, minigolf, birthday parties (so we have parties constantly), and skiing. For more information, please find us on facebook. Search "RPI TSA for graduate students." We have people constantly check the webpage, so you don't have to worry about not getting any response. We hope we can recruit more graduate students and introduce RPI to more Taiwanese. Although RPI is not in Ivy league, it has a really good reputation on the east coast and the ranking is improving hopefully. Hope to see some of you next year! -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 128.113.184.13
