Decision: Berkeley PhD in CS

我的研究領域在於HCI: Human-Computer Interaction, 人機互動
2008年申請上MIT Media Lab曾經在這邊發表過心得，請參見精華區 z-18-7-1-4-7
在MIT當了兩年的RA，做的算是很不錯
去年2010年拿到碩士之後搬到日本，年底想一想還是決定回到CS拿博士
又因為想搬到離台灣較近的西岸，好照顧已退休的父母與親友
今年很大膽的只丟了兩家，很確定想去的學校才申請
我的申請過程：
12/16 於截止日完成線上申請
 1/20 教授來信約時間
 1/22 Skype interview，講了33分鐘，主要談對我有興趣的三個老師之projects與方向
 1/27 教授詢問我是否有申請Media Lab PhD (i.e. 確不確定要去Berkeley)
 2/11 系上寄出簡單版的admission letter.
      含funding細節的正式信將於下週寄出

Berkeley CS今年似乎都有interview最後階段的申請者，不只HCI領域
順道一提，UW CS現在好像很難進，也有聽到許多不可抗力之因素
我沒有收到教授來信也沒主動連絡，加上我想跟的教授學生有點滿
究竟該不該主動和教授溝通是還蠻難的抉擇
我今年是抱著順其自然的態度，不過還是建議大家積極一點，應該還是會有幫助的

我有相當多的心得想和大家分享
不過明天要飛去灣區參加會議(IUI)做oral presentation
心得可能會拖很久，因而決定先簡單描述申請資料給大家參考
