Mat Osman，suede的貝斯手。
本名Mathew David Osman，1967年10月9日出生於Welwyn Garden City UK ，
後來搬到Haywards Heath，並在中學時遇到Brett Anderson，兩人組成一個叫
‵Geoff ′的雙人組開始玩音樂，後來更名為Suave And Elegant
1986年Mat和Brett搬到倫敦去，並加入Justine Frischman做為他們的吉他手。
後來他們又登廣告徵求另一位吉他手，Bernard Butler看到廣告來應徵，後來加入了他們。
Mat對於Bernard來應徵這件事曾說：〝Bernard fitted straight away, you virtually
know within 15 seconds if someone's right.〞
後來當他們找到Simon，並且在Justine Frischman離開後，正式組成suede。而
Mat對於Justine的離開曾經這麼說：〝We weren't any good till we kicked her out〞
然後他們就開始做些表演啦，並且曾被Melody Maker選為英國最佳新進樂團。
就這樣，開始了suede的故事…..。
Mat曾經在1996年和Brett Anderson一起寫了‵Europe Is Our Playground′作為
‵trash′的B-Side，當他被問到是否會再和Brett一起寫歌的時候，
Mat說道：〝No, it took me 29 years to write that one ...〞
