When you say that something is important TO you, you mean that it has meaning
for yourself. For example, "I know that losing ten pounds doesn't seem
important to you, but it's important to me."
To a native English speaker, it's incomplete to say something is important
FOR you. It says that there is something you must do that is important (to
someone). "For the sake of my health, it's important for me to lose weight."
