這裡 I am denied + that 引導的名詞子句,
deny 當"拒絕給予;拒絕...的要求"
e.g. Women were then denied the right to vote.
那時婦女被拒給予選舉權。
如果整句將 which I am sure 這句形容詞子句先拿掉, 應該比較容易看懂
I am denied that deeper understanding of them would come
through sight of them, ....
