[解題] 關於as well as

[jacky123 (就是要衝)]

前幾天學生問我(導師)
這題合併句子
John was hurt in the accident.
His friends were hurt in the accident,too.(用as well as)

我認為是John as well as his friends were hurt in the accident.

但學生補的英檢班老師給的說法是
A as well as B 後面的的詞要跟著主詞A來變化
也就是這題合併後的be動詞必須改為was

請問到底是哪種說法對呢?
