但你/妳所附的連結網頁提到:

two syllables                + -er OR more + adj       + -est OR most + adj

ending in: -y, -ly, -ow

ending in: -le, -er or -ure



但我手上Oxford出版的 Grammar Sense 2 在比較級這個章節也提到:


Adjectives with Two Syllables:

1. If the adjective ends in le, add -r. (這點跟S大的網頁內容有出入)

2. If it ends in a consonant+y, change y to i and add -er. (這點也有出入)

3. For most other two-syllable adjectives , use more.

4. Some two-syllable adjectives can use either -er or more.

   ( and the appendix includes:

      common, friendly, handsome, happy, lively, lovely, narrow,

      polite, quite. )



我想提出討論的是

1. 以上兩點有出入的地方


2. 我們可以因為附錄有提到happy

   就擴張解釋所有兩音節的子音+y形容詞 均有兩種比較級跟最高級嗎?

   但她第二點又有聲明 所有兩音節的子音+y形容詞應該是去y+ier?


3. 我們可以因為附錄有提到lively及narrow等字

   就擴張解釋所有-ly跟-ow結尾的形容詞也有兩種比較級跟最高級嗎?



以上問題我之前也思考過 很希望可以跟大家一起討論

推 sitifan:你誤會了, 它的第二點是說如果加er, 是去y+ier
→ guestcyc:嗯 沒錯 他的意思是這樣 但S大的連結是說兩者皆可
→ guestcyc:所以我所謂的出入是指這個意思
→ guestcyc:另 我剛剛搜尋了一下版面的比較級文章 其中S大上個月轉錄
→ guestcyc:的文章也談到兩音節且子音+y的形容詞 比較級為去y+ier
→ guestcyc:並非使用 more / -er 皆可?
