[解題] 翻譯問題

有幾句英文歌詞，晚輩不才（汗）
請各位前輩大大幫忙解析一下

1. The old tree is taller by half than the old man himself.

  by在此解釋為"相差"的意思嗎? ex. I missed the bus by 3 min.

  那麼此句到底是a.比爺爺身高的一半還要高 孩是 b. 時鐘整個為爺爺的2/3高?


2.It weighed not a pennyweight more.  該怎麼翻譯比較好呢?在此有出現什麼句型嗎?


3. My grandfather said
   That of those he could hire,
   Not a servent so faithful he found;
   For it wasted no time,
   And had but one desire,
   At the close of each week to be wound.

 因為第二句和最後一句實在不甚了解，怕上下文影響，所以整段po上，煩請指導翻譯。

推 monkeyashley:問題一，沒錯，可以解釋為相差喔，所以就是比爺爺高
→ monkeyashley:了一半的自己。問題二，意思是說時鐘已經不再值錢了
→ monkeyashley:That of those he could hire, those 指下面的僕人
→ monkeyashley:意思是沒有任何一個僕人比那個時鐘還要忠心耿耿的。
→ monkeyashley:最後一句，指說，時鐘就只有這麼一個願望，就是每個
→ monkeyashley:禮拜過後，等著爺爺將它的發條(可能是古老式)上緊。
