[兒美] 一首歌 Hello and Good-bye Song 裡面的alligator

現在在當兒童美語的家教，

用的教材是Let's Go的Third Edition第二冊，

其中有一首The Hello and Good-bye Song

歌詞如下：

Hi, Scott, how are you?

  I'm OK, thank you.

  How about you?

----------------------------

Good-bye, Scott.

  See you later, alligator!

  Good-bye, Scott!


想請教一下，

最後的alligator是什麼意思啊？

不可能是直接照字面翻的短吻鱷吧？

還是就只是Scott的綽號，是我想太多了？

有什麼特別的意義嗎？
