[國中] 名詞子句

這是模考題：

People believe that ____ animals food means loving them.

(a) feed (b) feeding (c) give (d) to give

答案是(b)

我的疑問是 (d) 錯的原因是什麼?

難道是因為名詞子句的主詞要動名詞而不能用不定詞?

我長這麼大還沒有看過這個文法
