[besideyou (道不同不相為謀)]

   I am so happy to see english teachers gathering here to discuss some

  problems with english teaching.

  Here is a questions about grammar:

  Which sentence is 100% correct?

  1. I teach him English.

  2. I teach English to him.

   thanks for your wholehearted help..^^

   but my foreing friend told me "the second sentence is not completely

  right." So I would like to know why the 2nd sentence is not right.

  Can you analyze the sentence in light of "syntax or lingusitcs analysis"?

    看到有錯就想改 :P
    teach is a dative verb.
    and the sentence pattern is "dative verb + sb + sth."
    = dative verb + sth. + prep. + sb.
    so the 2nd sentence is correct.
    Is that clear?

應該是第一句較正確
我第一次聽人家說 I teach English to him
感覺像中式英語
一般都是I teach him English
