參加了師德主辦的2008聯誼會，
主題是 ‘Teaching English through Storytelling’
主講者 Dr. Mike Lockett 是美國說故事大師，
也是全美說故事大賽
“Tell Me a Story, The Search for America’s Greatest Storyteller” 的冠軍！
可以聽到他的講座，覺得非常榮幸，他大老遠來到台灣，一定要來聽一下囉！
也因為這個講座，這個週末我也就幾乎沒有排其他的事情，
因為就是很專心的要來參加這場研習。 我還有作行前功課喔
Mike 他用他的 voices and gestures 就可以說場精采的故事，
還會彈奏樂器搭配說故事，實在太厲害了！
Mike 還有出 CDs,
這次他帶來最新故事專輯 “Tales for the Young at Heart” 和大家分享，
老師們也可以練習說故事的技巧。
I like the way Mike tells stories by interaction with listeners.
Mike says that children like stories with repetition, rhythm, and rhymes.
Mike also suggests storytellers can not only use voices, gestures, eye contact,
but also can think about the stage presence.
But how to select and start a story?
Mike thinks that (1) it must like a story; (2) story must fit to you and
your audience; (3) a storyteller can start with EASY stories instead of
thick and hard stories; (4) make BRAIN pictures, and (5) practice.
Dr. Lockett taught us several storytelling techniques that could make our
storytelling skills much effective in our classrooms.
Most important of all, stories can increase children's vocabulary,
listening ability, reading comprehension, and develop problem-solving skills.
