這一句英文本身就有問題。
Tom is "the only one" "the boys" that is in the classroom.
我覺得比較可行的為以下：
Tom is the only boy that is in the classroom.
Tom is the only one that is in the classroom.
不知原 po 想要表達的是什麼？

而在這個方面，我覺得比較合理的解釋是，當你的 subject
是第一或第三人物時，後面及可使用單數。
"I" am one of the boys who "want" to go.
"They" are one of the groups who "arrive" first.
