[問題] Teaching English songs?

Hi folks,

Have you ever taught English songs to your students?
Now I have some questions about teaching English songs
to senior high school students at school. I have tried several times to
teach pop music in my class. However, it seems that they listen to
the music all the time instead of singing the songs or
learning the words from the lyrics.

What's the purpose for teaching songs? I have asked myself several times.
To motivate them will be the main focus. But I do hope that they can
learn something from this lesson as well. Therefore, I explain the lyric
line by line and repeat the songs again and again. That's all.


Now it leads to my question.
How will you teach songs to your students effectively?

I will appreciate it if you can share your experience with me.
