[解題] 請問as的一些用法

我在ICRT網站 看到他對gear up 的解釋
重點是讓我想起了我最近常看見as的一些奇異用法我不會解釋
主要想請教大家兩個問題:
1. as是否也可以當關係代名詞(which或that)解釋?
2. 或是它可以看作是such as 表示舉例但省略了such(如下)?

gear up:

    * to make or get ready for a future event or situation  準備
    * to arouse or excite, as with enthusiasm or expectation  興致勃勃的期待
                           ^^^^^^^
不知道大家對as除了一般高中時學到的用法(when.since.although.because.....)以外
是否與小的一樣還是有所疑惑呀XD
請老師賜教~
