Showtime to Air Entire 'Queer as Folk,' 'The L Word' Runs
Showtime is going back to the vault.
Groundbreaking series Queer as Folk and The L Word, which both aired on the pay cable network in the 2000s, are coming back to Showtime in time for LGBT Pride Month.
Starting June 2 through June 30, back-to-back episodes of Queer as Folk and The L Word will re-air Monday through Friday at 8 p.m. ET/PT. From July 3, back-to-back episodes will air every Thursday through Nov. 13.
Based on the British series from Russell T. Davies, Queer as Folk followed a group of young gay men and lesbians in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and starred Michelle Clunie, Robert Gant, Thea Gill, Gale Harold, Randy Harrison, Scott Lowell, Peter Paige, Hal Sparks and Sharon Gless over the course of five seasons. It debuted Dec. 3, 2000, and went on to win GLAAD's top drama series prize in 2001.
The L Word, which debuted in 2004, focused on a group of lesbians and their
friends living in Los Angeles. Jennifer Beals, Laurel Holloman, Mia Kirshner,
Katherine Moennig, Erin Daniels, Leisha Hailey, Sarah Shahi, Rachel Shelley
and Pam Grier starred in the Ilene Chaiken drama, which ran for six seasons.
Like Queer as Folk, The L Word won GLAAD's drama series award in 2006 and 2009,
and spawned a reality spinoff, The Real L Word.
