這次獲獎者有兩位 ( 另一位為中國藝術家 / 民權人士艾未未 ),
不過亞洲媒體大多聚焦於艾未未, Joan Baez 獲獎的消息未見太多報導.

"Baez became involved in civil rights activism in the 1960s and helped esta-
 -blish local Amnesty International groups in San Francisco in the early
 1970s.

 She said she was "proud" to be honoured, adding: "Amnesty International
 attracted me because of its founding principle that all human rights abuses
 and the suffering they create are unacceptable." "



那麼 Joan Baez 跟女同志的關係呢?
她畢生致力於提升人權, 其中當然也包含 LGBT 的人權.

"Baez has also been prominent in the struggle for gay and lesbian rights. In
 1978, she performed at several benefit concerts to defeat the Briggs Ini-
 -tiative, which proposed banning all gay people from teaching in the public
 schools of California. Later that same year, she participated in memorial
 marches for the assassinated San Francisco city supervisor, Harvey Milk, who
 was openly gay.

 In the 1990s, she appeared with her friend Janis Ian ( 筆者按: 出櫃女同志樂
 手 ) at a benefit for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, a gay lobby-
 -ing organization, and performed at the San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual
 and Transgender Pride March.

 Her song "Altar Boy and the Thief" from Blowin' Away (1977) was written as a
