　有機會接觸到這首歌是國中時閱讀到一本小說，也叫做 Hard Love.

  Ellen 曾回答為何要寫這本小說，

  What inspired John and Marisol’s story?

　I had always wanted to write a story in which a gay or lesbian teen
　character was already out of the closet and comfortable with his or her
　sexuality. Up until that point, most books for YAs with gay protagonists were
　about their coming out. I wanted to write the NEXT chapter. Both Marisol and
　John sprang full-blown into my imagination and their chemistry was great.
　Because of who Marisol is, the story's ending is inevitable, to me, yet many
　readers are upset by it. Which isn't a bad thing either.

　
  小說主角 John 是個有點厭世、有些孤僻的中二異男高中生，

  而 Marisol 則個剛申請上大學，在摸索性向的 lesbian.

  他們因為寫雜誌 (類似當年的筆友吧) 認識，成為無話不談的好朋友。

  John 喜歡上了 Marisol，但 Marisol 無法以"情人的喜歡" 喜歡 John.

  這首歌是一個局外人 (如果沒記錯的話，這個局外人女生喜歡 John XD)

  看出 John 對 Marisol 有好感時，唱給 John 聽的。

  畢竟 John 和 Marisol 根本不可能在一起。


  閱讀歌詞 (那個年代沒有 audio book 唱給你聽:P) 時，

　就覺得這些詞雖然用字簡單，卻探進了我的胸口，撫平了許多傷口。

     (當時哪來的傷痛我也不知道，就是深深地被這樣淒美的歌詞感動了XD)

  當年自己用流行曲調套進這些詞亂哼，怎麼聽都不妥，

  直到上網找了 Bob Franke 在戶外唱的版本(有鴨子叫XD)，

  聽他用略帶年紀的嗓音詮釋，才明瞭，越是簡單文字，越能乘載如此沉重溫柔的情愫。

     (曾試圖把這本小說翻譯成中文，可是後來考基測太忙了ˊˋ 就只翻了兩三章)

     (有陣子好期待這本小說會拍成電影喔>"< 裡面的情感刻劃樸實卻吸引人)


  上大學，沉潛批踢踢拉版也兩三年了，

  看了好多版友的故事，

  有些是面對家人不諒解的深夜傷心討拍文，

  或是(前)女友因為 年紀/家裡逼迫/反正各種原因都有啦 分手踏上異性戀婚姻，

  當然也有把大家閃瞎空白文XD

  所以趁這個機會把很喜歡的兩段歌詞獻給大家:)

  我們都知道，情慾是流動的，喜歡女生，喜歡男生，都沒有所錯。

  喜歡的就是你這個人。

  你的善良、正直，你的靦腆、你的笑容，

  就算那些小脾氣、小糊塗，和數不盡的小缺點，都甘願承受 ── 因為我喜歡你。

  而身為非主流異性戀的我們，面對愛情，除了與對方磨合外，

  還有更加嚴苛的挑戰: 家人的不支持、外界的眼光、社會國家不友善的政策，

  但這更堅定了我們對彼此的愛 <3


  支持婚姻平權。
