好像從前有個故事，
講到一個人摸大象只摸到象鼻子，就堅持大象的身體一定是細細長長的。

大班制小班制根本不是 Seminar 的重點，
Seminar 起於德國University of Berlin，
在 John Hopkins University 成立時帶進美國，漸漸影響了美國校園。
這歸功於 Daniel Coit Gilman，John Hopkins的首席校長。

當初他帶進 Seminar 制度的意義，
就是在於希望取代純 Solely Lecture(單向教導)的環境。
Seminar 的重點和精神就在於受教者也可以分享意見，擺脫老師一人唱獨角戲的情境。
你在所有跟 Daniel Coit Gilman 的描述中都可以看到這件史事。
大型的 Seminar 討論會也一樣，只是同一個概念所呈現出的不同表現方式。

把 Seminar 當成是因為小班制和高階的一種類別，就是完全本末倒置。

學校裏會採用小班制，是這樣 seminar 比較方便。

學校會限制高等學生，是因為他們具備足夠的知識和獨立研究能立，
可以讓 seminar 更有意義。
沒有這種需求的 Seminar ，則初等學生也可以上。


Seminar 與 Lecture 相對，寶貴的就是在於研討本身，純研究不算，是要有feedback的。
把 Seminar Course 上成 Lecture Course 的事當然常常發生，
我自己的 Seminar 經驗就是每次講完台下都一片無聲，
有問題都只敢下課後偷偷跑來問，臺灣人求學習慣實在很冷場。
學生們拜託多努力一點，不要讓老師在上 Seminar 時都只有自己一個人在講。
