試譯一下第一段部份，主要是要指出中英文「常用語」不一樣，很難（或不該）直譯：

一九四五年以後，推廣教育發展迅速，推廣教育不但創造了菁英與一般民眾的共通語言，
也帶給成年人新的希望（黃富順，2000）。

The continuing education has developed rapidly since 1945; it not only
creates a common language for the elites and general public but also brings
new hopes to adults (Huang, 2000).

（謎之音：推廣教育如何「創造共同語言」？）

推廣教育具有普遍性和終身性（詹棟樑，2005），不是專屬於失學人士，也不屬於特定人
士，是社會大眾共同的需要，也是民眾永遠的需要。

Continuing education fosters the concept of life-long learning and is for the
general public (Zhan, 2005); it should not be considered as only for those who
drop out of schools or specifically for some special groups ─ it targets the
current and future needs of the general public.

（普遍性指的是「誰都能參與」嗎？「社會大眾」與「民眾」是同義詞嗎？）

括號裡問題的答案會影響到最後的譯文。我想這是自動翻譯機比較無法深入思考的地方。
論文的專業讀者本身有一套用來溝通的詞彙和對文意的假設，所以經常意思表達完了之後
還要再「翻譯」一次，以免誤解。

推 lovedenmark:specifically..那邊可以省略special..有點redudant..

→ lovedenmark:就原文來說只是說特定人士.應該是不用special
推 TheRock:or for specific groups? 前面的 "only" 應可共用 XD
