我個人練習翻譯的原則是
盡量讓中文唸起來的長度跟英文差不多
所以為了縮短字數會以意思為主 不見得會逐字翻
或者偶爾也會遇到要加些贅字拉長的情形
在歌詞方面 勉強可以跟著唱啦 (可惜沒有強到能押韻)

: Your job's a joke, you're broke, your love life's DOA.
: 你工作可笑 口袋空空 愛情胎死腹中
DOA 是 dead on arrival 的縮寫 指病人送達醫院前就已經死亡
在這裡應該是指愛情未開始就結束
相關的中文成語想不太到 想了幾個覺得胎死腹中還滿接近的

: It's like you're always stuck in second gear,
: 你似乎永遠都不上不下
gear指車子的檔位 有開手排車的朋友應該就能體會
就像車子卡在二檔 快不起來也慢不下去
我也是出社會幾年之後才突然體會到這種不上不下的無力感

: when it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year.
: 覺得今天、本週、本月、甚至一整年都很倒楣
not one's day指一個人覺得那天很倒楣
將中間的時間單位換掉 倒楣的時間就延長啦 真的很可憐

: But, I'll be there for you, when the rain starts to pour.
: 但我會在你身邊 當大雨開始下
pour指大量的水湧出 用在雨上自然就是指傾盆大雨
就像台灣人很喜歡說的 雨好像用倒的一樣

: But she didn't tell you when the world has brought you down to your knees.
: 但她沒說過這世界會讓你這麼的無力
bring one to its knees 指被擊倒
個人覺得用orz三個字就能說明的非常貼切
可惜我翻譯時也不喜歡再把別的語言混進去 這樣子還滿怪的
另外想指正之前某個拿orz來出題的老師
orz絕對不是五體投地 這是您自己的創新用法(離題了)

: even at my worst, I'm best with you.
: 即使再糟糕 有你就好
這句如果逐字翻是「在我最低潮的時候 有你在身邊我就是最佳狀態」
不過真是太長了 各種語言總是各有長短
就幾個字 其他語言卻得翻的囉哩吧唆 這樣的翻法應該可以接受吧

1.這首歌是Friends的製作人David Crane、Marta Kauffman、Kauffman的老公、
  作詞人Michael Skloff、作曲Allee Willis
  以及the Rembrandts兩位歌手所共同創作的。
  原本打算要給They Might Be Giants和 R.E.M.唱。

2.這首歌原本就只有我們在劇裡聽到的一分鐘左右版本。
  但在Nashville某個電台主持人將它循環混音成較長版本播出，結果大受歡迎。
  唱片公司於是要求the Rembrandts做出完整的版本。
  在最後唱片公司將它收錄進the Rembrandts的LP專輯中，且不打算發行單曲，
  因為擔心會影響專輯的銷量。

3.這首歌曾經被搖滾團The Goo Goo Dolls與Pink Lincolns翻唱過，
  愛爾蘭國民偶像團Westlife(西城男孩)也在演唱會上表演過這首歌。

    「電視節目的主題曲已死。」電視台主管們在 1994 年秋天時這麼宣告。他們相信，
在 1990 年代的多頻道世界裡，觀眾會對電視節目主題曲感興趣的想法，已經過時了。但
結果呢？1994-95 電視季中最走紅的新節目—— NBC 電視台的情境喜劇《六人行》（
Friends），創造出至少是近十年以來，廣播電台點播頻率最高的電視主題曲。

    "I'll Be There for You" 是節目片頭打出演員名單時所播出的一首歡樂集錦曲。演
唱者是 The Rembrandts 樂團，一支由 Danny Wilde 和 Phil Solem 所組成的二重唱。
這兩人曾是洛杉磯樂團 Great Buildings 的一員，而後來則在 1991 年，以 "Just the
Way It Is, Baby" 一曲打入排行榜（成人抒情榜第 12 名，流行榜第 14 名）。

    《六人行》的執行製作人 Kevin Bright，邀集 Wilde 和 Solem 彈奏、演唱 "I'll
Be There for You"，同時也請他們幫忙改編。這兩人非常高興能有機會為此曲的原始版
本貢獻一己之力，如同 Wilde 對華盛頓郵報記者 John Maynard 所說的，「這首歌原先
聽起來有點枯燥。但我們預見到此曲的潛力，且覺得我們可以讓它 "Rembrandt" 起來。
我們的確在此曲中加入了我們的標記。」

    剛開始時，"I'll Be There for You" 只是在片頭和片尾播出的一首 42 秒短歌。但
後來，聽眾們的點播要求淹沒了廣播電台，Wilde 和 Solem 所屬的唱片公司逼他們要有
所回應，The Rembrandts 這才很不情願地，在他們最新的、簡單命名為 "LP" 的專輯中
，加入了這首歌曲。「專輯中放進這首歌曲，此乃公司的決定，」Solem 告訴 Maynard。
「而當我們見識到這首歌的帶頭效應後，我們也就無所謂了。」

    在 "I'll Be There for You" 自 1995 年 5 月 20 日起奪下「電台百大播出榜」（
Hot 100 Airplay chart）王座八週之後，EastWest 唱片公司才終於將這首歌發行成單曲
，此曲於 1995 年 9 月 30 日登上流行排行榜，首週就攻佔了令人驚訝的第 18 名（只
有已經發行成單曲的歌曲，才有資格進入流行榜）。但此時，這首歌的電台點播數已經開
始下滑，所以此曲只靠著 B 面曲 "This House Is Not a Home" 之助，於十月份進佔到
第 17 名的最高名次。

    在成為暢銷曲後的三年多，"I'll Be There for You" 因為仍是當紅《六人行》的主
題曲，故偶而還會在電台之中被點播。The Rembrandts 雖不乏新的嘗試，但再沒有其他
作品能如此曲般的受到歡迎。正印證了 Solem 對 Maynard 所言，「如果我們光靠
 "I'll Be There for You" 這首歌，那我們會很慘。」
