Athletics Claim Alex Hassan From Red Sox

The A’s announced that they have claimed outfielder/first baseman
Alex Hassan off waivers from the Red Sox (Twitter link).
Hassan, 26, made his big league debut with the Red Sox this year, collecting
nine plate appearances and picking up his first big league hit — a single. The
former 20th-round draft pick had a solid season at Triple-A Pawtucket, batting
.287/.378/.426 with eight home runs this season. Those numbers line up well
with the .282/.387/.411 batting line that Hassan has compiled over the course
of parts of four seasons at that level.
