An experienced catching prospect out of Alabama, Greiner was drafted with
around a half million dollar slot associated with his third round draft spot.

Alabama出產的捕手, 第三輪(99順位), 剛好在po文前宣布簽約($529,400)

Scouting Report

Body:
Tall; strong; very physical frame; good muscle tone; mature; impressive body;
room for additional strength; good athlete for his size.

又高又大又成熟的胴體>///<
還有增加肌肉的空間, 擁有不錯的運動力for他的身材

Hit:
Not a bat-speed oriented swing; gets long to and through the zone; surprising
feel for the barrel and will make consistent contact; contact won’t always be
loud; improving pitch recognition skills and willingness to go deeper in counts
; longer swing lends to more a pull presence; needs to use opposite field more
frequently to make best use of tool; consistent premium velocity in pro ball
could be an issue with longer swing; still developing at the plate; needs
multi-grade jump for tool to play consistently at everyday level; likely
below-average to fringe hitter long term.

Grade – Present 3/Future 4+

因為身材與長臂, 無法避免有揮棒軌跡過長的問題, 同時揮棒速度普普, 碰上更高等級
的速球可能會有些掙扎. 有出乎意料的contact, 但還需要學習不要只會拉擊 (長軌跡
揮棒的通病).

總結, 打擊技巧在各方面都需要升級, 目前看起來比較像是低於平均值的打者.

Power:
Strength is present; can drive the ball in BP; power really stands out when he
extends his arms; power plays mostly to pull side; above-average raw but plays
down in games because of under-developed hit tool; with fringe hit tool at
peak, power could play to average level; reasonable scenario involves 10-15
home runs supplemented by doubles.

Grade – 4+/5

擁有力量把球打得很遠, 在打擊練習中展現無疑, 尤其在拉擊時, 但因打擊技巧的缺乏
讓這個能力在正式比賽裡無從發揮.

總結, 可以到平均水準, 一年10~15轟

Speed:
Below-average down the line; speed is not part of game; will continue to slow
as catching takes a toll; won’t be factor in game throughout career.

不快, 而且這輩子都跑不快了>"<

Defense:
Most impressive tool; really strong defender with potential to continue
improving with pro instruction; already handles premium velocity and
high-quality secondary pitches with ease; strong wrists; firm with the ball
and avoids drift; good target for pitchers; moves well side to side despite
size; can drop and block; footwork is good on throws; release can be slow and
will need to develop ability to gun runners at highest level; commands pitching
staff well; excellent glove with plus potential as he adjusts to pro game.

Grade – 5/6

防守能力是Greiner的一大賣點.
excellent glove with plus potential. 這句話就夠了 其他免翻XD

Arm:
Above-average raw strength; throws are on a line and accurate; throws down to
the bag; gives his fielders a chance to make the play at second base; arm plays
down a half tick because of slower release; should play to raw strength with
pro instruction and continued development.

Grade – 5/5+

高於平均水準, 但傳球動作有點慢, 所以小輸Defense 0.5分

Other:
Heady player; excellent leadership ability on the field; highly competitive.

Final Word

Summary:
Very strong defender; glove can carry profile to MLB level; arm is strong; very
good leader; total defensive package; typical catcher speed; above-average raw
power but doesn’t manifest in games due to developing hit tool; long swing
that may prevent hitting at more than a below-average level; potential .250
hitter with pop and excellent defense; strong makeup.

好防守, 好臂力, 非常好的領袖, 標準的補手腿, 高於平均的raw power, 可惜目前打擊
能力低下, 神隱了他的砲管.

總結, .250打者加上一些長打跟好棒棒的防守, 附上良好的工作態度

Risk:
Moderate risk; Higher floor player with relatively low ceiling; questions
surrounding hit tool prevent him from being low risk.

中度風險, 高地板低天花板的代表. 如果打擊再好一點就變低風險了

Projection:
Should move relatively quickly through the system; hit tool will need a couple
of years to continue developing; potential for similar developmental path as
James McCann; backup catcher profile without much development; potential to be
solid regular if hit tool even approaches average level; defense will always be
the calling card.

有機會在農場裡迅速往上爬, 就算打擊沒有明顯成長, 還是能在大聯盟當個2號補手.
整理評價很像待在3A的James McCann.

看來是個穩上大聯盟的選擇, 沒在二、三輪補一些高天份的高中生很可惜
但現在農場補手位置非常薄弱. 這樣補不能說意外
(記得季出小聯盟4支球隊preview, 除了James McCann, 我全部略過)
有機會直接上A 甚至A+開始職業生涯
