Bobby Parnell has been diagnosed with a partial tear of the medial collateral
ligament in his right elbow.

An awful break for the Mets. Parnell showed diminished velocity and movement
on his pitches during Monday's game and now we know why. He complained of
tightness in his forearm after the game and the partial tear was found
following an MRI. He received a platelet-rich plasma injection and will rest
for two weeks before resuming a throwing program, but surgery is possible if
he doesn't show improvement. Jose Valverde figures to get the save chances
for New York in his absence and is suddenly a must-own in all fantasy
leagues. Vic Black, Jeurys Familia, and Gonzalez Germen could be options if
(or when) he falters.
