Fine-Tuning the Pick-and-Roll
With a majority of a team’s offensive sets predicated on the
screen-and-roll, the Kings coaching staff used a significant portion of Monday
’s practice to ensure fine-tuning of the pick-and-roll.
大部分的球隊使用screen-and-roll，國王教練團在周一的練習裡練習pick-and-roll。
“We have guys that are sometimes trying to make a play that may not be there
- maybe it’s the execution or the spacing, but the last couple of games in
Houston and Memphis, they’ve been very physical with us,” admitted Head
Coach Michael Malone. “They’re both good defensive teams, so we have to do
a better job of setting ourselves up and setting screens to get open.”

Malone says a good screen will end up opening up either the screener or the
ball-handler because the defense will be forced to help or switch. The result
will be an open shot or a drive to the hoop.

就是大空檔或是上籃。
“Our goal every possession is to get the highest-percentage shot that we can,
” the second-year coach continued. “That comes with execution, but also
being organized and making sure all five guys on the floor know the call, the
timing and spacing.”

For point guard Ramon Sessions, who’s had to learn the nuances of Sacramento
’s offensive playbook quickly, the pick-and-roll has been useful throughout
his career. Now, he’s developing chemistry with new teammates.

“It’s usually Reggie and Carl in the second unit who set the pick for me,”

Although he’s been through his fair share of ups and downs this season,
Sessions will play a crucial part in the Kings bench production this season.

“It’s just one of those things, as a team we have to get stops and try to
get out and push the ball. Our second unit is a lot different than our first…
our second unit is more about executing the offense and getting out on the

Malone stated that was one of the priorities this week, “Trusting each
other, trusting the offense, but also the little things - creating proper
work habits of how to get open and how to get your teammate open.”
MM表示這是本周的優先事項之一。「相信對方、相信進攻，還有一些小事 - 創造正確的

Back in Sac
With a grueling schedule through the opening month of the season - 10 of the
team’s first 17 games were on the road - the team appreciated a little home
cooking this weekend and a session in their own gym.

“Today, it was nice to finally get in a practice,” said Malone. “It seems
like we haven’t had practice in so long. So, it was a very good practice,
the guys competed and went hard, hopefully that will transfer to a better
product on the floor tomorrow night.”
MM說：「今天我們終於可以練習了，真好，感覺我們好久沒有練習。這次的練習很棒，

Hopefully the time spent at home will also allow the team to recover and get
healthy.
“I would say Rudy Gay and Darren [Collison] are not 100-percent,” the
second-year coach admitted. “They’ve been able to put up some pretty
impressive numbers in light of that. I think Ben McLemore [has played well
too]. Sometimes, I take a step back and look at the improvements he has made
and how much better and more confident he’s played this year.”

Sessions has also been nursing a knee injury, but hopes to improve with time.
He was listed as probable for Sunday’s game, but does not appear on the team
’s latest injury report.
沙宣也有著膝蓋的傷勢，但是他想讓時間去解決。周日的比賽他是probable，不過他並
沒有在球隊的傷兵名單上。
“I’m a little banged up,” he admitted. “There’s certain things I can’t
do, but as time goes on hopefully it will wear off. In the meantime, I just
have to keep playing and give it all I can.”
沙宣說：「我是有一點撞傷，所以還是有一點影響，不過我希望時間可以磨平他，現在
我就是繼續打球，然後好好表現。」
個人意見
多少說明了MM對沙宣有多大的信心...
去年盤來RE本來以為只是搶籃板，看來現在也是稱職的更衣室領袖。
最後原來RE的綽號是小丑。
