 giving you unasked-for criticism or advice. Maybe this person is giving you t
he cold shoulder. Or maybe this person is being unkind or even cruel in some o
ther way. You are sometimes too polite and courteous to protest when things li
ke that happen, but sometimes you really do have to speak up. You should not o
nly stand up for yourself; you should also seek out people who will build you
up instead of dragging you down.
