A postdoctoral position is available for studies on the structure-function,
molecular genetics, and biological/pharmacological properties of the
proton-coupled folate transporter (PCFT). This transporter, discovered in
this laboratory, is mutated in the autosomal recessive disorder, hereditary
folate malabsorption, also a focus of study. PCFT mediates intestinal folate
absorption, folate transport across the choroid plexus and transport of
antifolates into tumor cells within their acidic microenvironment.
Candidates should have a strong background in molecular biology and/or
physiology/electrophysiology and a track-record of productivity during their
doctoral training. Experience in homology modeling is desirable. This is a
participating laboratory in the Experimental Therapeutics Program of the
NCI-designated Albert Einstein Cancer Center.
