The Postdoctoral Associate will work with Dr. Yi-Ju Li, Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics and faculty member of DMPI, to study the genetics of Alzheimer disease (AD) and postoperative outcomes after cardiac surgeries. This position will work closely with methodology development, computer program development, and genome wide genetic data analysis. The primary area of methodology development will be family-based association tests for quantitative and survival outcomes, respectively. Other new methodological topics may be pursued as well. The work will include computer programs development such as R packages for the in-house methods. The Postdoctoral Associate will also involve in analyzing large genome wide single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and whole genome and exome sequence data for various phenotypes. Through these projects, the postdoctoral fellow will develop his/her research expertise in both theoretical and applied domains of statistical genetics. He/she will develop statistical analysis plan (SAP) and write summary reports, and participate in manuscript development as the first author or a co-author. He/she will have the access to state of the art computing system for human genetic studies. The candidate will minimally require a PhD degree in related discipline, including but not limited to statistics, biostatistics, statistical genetics, and computational biology with good statistics background. Strong knowledge in survival models is preferable. Candidates should be proficient in UNIX/LINUX system (e.g. sufficient knowledge of writing scripts) and R.
