Opening: Postdoctoral Scientist Field: biochemical engineering, food processing, carbohydrate chemistry, gut microbiome Department: School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (SCBE) Institution: Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Location: Singapore One research fellow position is immediately available at the Food Manufacturing and Health Laboratory in the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, NTU. The applicant is expected to have hands-on experience in microbial fermentation, bioreactor, and chromatography operations; in carbohydrate synthesis, purification, and structural analysis; or in microbial community analysis, next-generation sequencing, and bioinformatics. English proficiency is desired; the appointment is on a yearly basis, with the candidate being eligible for a performance bonus. The research fellow will focus on applying biochemical and engineering principles to food and bioprocessing procedures to improve system efficiency and human health. Specific projects include but are not limited to developing sustainable urban food-manufacturing systems, creating values for agricultural by-products, manufacturing bioactive carbohydrates, and elucidating substrate-specific microbial communities.
