need for your help, companionship, and support – and perhaps other more
tangible requests – has been going on for too long a time. In fact, it has
become a bad habit, and you may be growing tired of it. At the same time,
though, you may feel some obligation or pity for this person, and that makes
it a hard habit to break. Start trying harder to discern which needs are real
and which are not, and you can slowly downsize the level of help you’re
going.
