在整個季後進行牛棚補強後，Chicago 認為是時候讓後援投手 Michael
Wuertz換個環境發展了。在 Cubs 待了五個球季後，Wuertz 繳出了 13 勝
7 敗，自責分率 3.57 的生涯成績。Cubs 從此次交易中得到兩個小聯盟
選手，而其中只有 Robnett 本季有機會在大聯盟看到他。他在小聯盟待
了五季後參加過春訓，而之前最好的成績是上到 3A，不過 2008 球季因
移除胃部腫瘤而僅有短暫的出賽。Sellers 應該會待在小聯盟磨練他的技
巧，尤其是在防守方面，他曾在二壘及游擊位置出賽。這兩位小聯盟球員
有機會在 Cubs 成功，但還需要一段時間才會在大聯盟看到他們。如果
Wuertz 換個環境有所助益，則 Athletics 會因 Wuertz 在 2009 的貢獻
較大而從此次交易中勝出。
