年終賽男雙前瞻：可能藏有驚喜


Having made an impact in their first year together and qualified to the HSBC BWF
 World Tour Finals 2019, Wang Chi-Lin and Lee Yang will look to upset the apple
cart of the more fancied names in Guangzhou.


身為第一年重組後對羽壇造成影響且合格參加年終賽的組合，李洋與王齊麟可能會擾亂其他
熱門男雙的計畫。


Wang and Lee have both played the season finale, but in separate years with diff
erent partners. Wang concluded his partnership with Chen Hung Ling at this tourn
ament last year; Lee Yang and Lee Jhe-Huei, whose partnership ended after the Ho
ng Kong Open 2018, had qualified to the Dubai World Superseries Finals in 2017.


王李兩人都參加過年終賽，不過是跟不同搭檔分別參加的。王在去年年終賽跟搭檔陳宏麟結
束合作關係；李洋跟李哲輝曾參加過2017杜拜年終賽，雙方在2018香港公開賽後拆夥。


Wang and Lee’s partnership started on the best possible note, as they won their
 first tournament this year – the Barcelona Spain Masters. At the end of a frui
tful season, they captured the Korea Masters, putting them in the best possible
frame of mind before the Finals in Guangzhou.


王李兩人合作之初即以奪得西班牙大師賽冠軍獲得最好的開端。在碩果累累的季末，他們拿
到了韓國大師賽冠軍，讓他們在廣州賽之前處於絕佳的精神狀態。


“I heard that the Guangzhou event last year was very different and special,” s
ays Lee Yang. “My wish was to be able to play there. I feel very fortunate to h
ave qualified in my first year of partnership with Chi-Lin. He played there last
 year so I’ll definitely ask him for advice.”


「我聽說去年的廣州賽非常與眾不同。」李洋說。「我希望能夠去參賽。我跟齊麟搭檔的第
一年就有資格參加非常幸運。他去年有打，所以我肯定會多問問他的意見。」


“We have to be fully prepared because our opponents are very strong. I hope to
play my best and not be overwhelmed by the occasion,” added Wang Chi-Lin.


「因為我們的對手都很強，所以一定要做足準備。我希望展現最好的一面而不是被壓制。」
王齊麟補充道。


The season finale has had a tradition of springing up surprises, since the most
successful players often feel the physical effects of a competitive season and w
ould be looking forward to replenishing their energies during the year-end holid
ays. That offers a slight window of opportunity to pairs like Wang/Lee, Lu Ching
 Yao/Yang Po Han, and Malaysia’s Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, who will be under les
ser pressure compared to the more accomplished pairs.


季末總有驚奇連連的傳統，因為最成功的球員會在競爭激烈的賽季中產生生理方面的影響，
而希望在季末的假期補充能量。這給了王李、盧楊、大馬蘇謝這類的男雙一絲機會之窗。因
為比起其他成就更高的組合，他們遭遇的壓力較小。


The format of the Finals – round-robin followed by knock-out – also offers a d
ifferent challenge, and many favourites in past editions have been shown the doo
r early.


年終賽的比賽形式（循環賽、緊接著是淘汰賽），也給了參賽者不同的挑戰。過去很多熱門
組合因此早早出局。


That said, the top contenders will be Indonesia’s Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Ke
vin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, who won eight tournaments this season from nine finals. S
enior compatriots Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan too have had their share of
 the spotlight, winning three titles from ten finals. Both pairs have previously
 won the season finale in Dubai, and it will be interesting to see if there is a
nother faceoff between them in Guangzhou, where Ahsan and Setiawan won their fir
st World Championships together in 2013.

萬也享有同樣的關注，他們在十場決賽中拿了三冠。這兩組男雙之前都拿過杜拜年終冠軍。
看看這兩組男雙是否又會在廣州互相對抗，也是有趣。廣州也是山萬第一次拿到世錦冠軍的
地方。


Setiawan, one of the most experienced players on the circuit, conceded the diffi
culty of the format: “If it was at any other tournament, in just one match you
would know whether you’ve progressed or not. But when you play in a group forma
t, you need to win but it doesn’t mean you get to the next stage. We need to st
ay focused for every match. Both of us are delighted to have qualified for the W
orld Tour Finals, because it’s not easy to make it.”


身為巡迴賽中最有經驗的球員，賽提阿萬認為這種比賽的形式有其困難度：「如果是其他的
比賽，只要贏一場你就能知道是不是能夠進入下一輪。可是打小組賽的話，就算贏了也不知
道有沒有下一輪。我們必須對每場比賽保持專注。我們兩個人都對符合參賽資格感到高興，
因為能做到這一點很不容易。」


Other strong claimants for the title are the two Japanese pairs – Takeshi Kamur
a/Keigo Sonoda and Yuta Watanabe/Hiroyuki Endo, and defending champions Li Jun H
ui/Liu Yu Chen.


其他爭冠的強勁對手有兩組日本男雙（嘉園、渡遠），還有衛冕者中國雙塔。


Local pair Li Jun Hui and Liu Yu Chen will be determined to prove a point or two
. The Chinese haven’t had a great season, and will be keen to showcase their be
st in front of their home crowd.


地主男雙組合李俊慧、劉雨辰決心證明一二。這組中國男雙本賽季表現並不好，自然希望在
鄉親父老面前展現最好的一面。


“The atmosphere in Guangzhou was awesome and the fans were passionate,” recall
s Liu Yu Chen. “It was obvious how much the fans in China love badminton. This
is the year-end championships; it’s one of the most prestigious tournaments of
the year. I was so happy we won the title last year.”


「廣州的氣氛極好，球迷也很熱情。」劉雨辰回憶道。「明顯可以看出中國球迷對羽毛球有
多熱愛。這是富有盛名的年終錦標賽。我很高興去年我們能奪冠。」
