can request to be made available to the other 29 clubs, at which point if a clu
b agrees to give a given player an active roster spot the Rays will have the cho

between adding the player to their 40-man roster or trading him to the inter
ested team. Per Topkin, Brantly, Uwasawa and Smith have all told the Rays that t
hey wish to use their assignment clauses.
