Pirates stud Paul Skenes announced on MLB Network on Tuesday that he will be par
ticipating in the 2026 WBC for the United States, where he will likely be near -
- or at -- the front of the rotation. The 2024 National League Rookie of the Yea
r will now get a chance to take his show from Pittsburgh to the international st
age.
海盜隊的王牌投手Paul Skenes週二在MLB Network上宣布，他將代表美國參加2026年世界棒
球經典賽，屆時他很可能會擔任美國隊前段輪值的角色，這位2024年國聯新人王將有機會把
他的表現從匹茲堡帶到國際舞台
“If I ever have the opportunity to do this, I’m going to,” Skenes said during
Tuesday’s episode of MLB Central.

It has been just over a year since Skenes made his Major League debut, going fro
m the top pitching prospect of his generation to one of the top arms in the game
. He came into the year a Cy Young contender. In his 32 career starts, Skenes ha
s gone 14-7 with a 2.16 ERA while fanning 223 over 187 2/3 innings with a sensat
ional 7.3 WAR.
Skenes登上大聯盟舞台至今才剛滿一年，從一代最頂尖的投手新秀，迅速成長為當今最頂尖
的投手之一，他本季開打前就已被視為賽揚獎的有力競爭者。
截至目前為止，Skenes生涯32場先發戰績為14勝7敗，防禦率2.16，累積187.2局投球中送出
223次三振，WAR高達7.3，表現相當驚人
Skenes’ love of country is well known, starting his collegiate baseball journey
at the Air Force Academy and now working with the Gary Sinise Foundation to hel
p veterans, first responders and their families. This will be the first World Ba
seball Classic since he entered the league as the first overall Draft pick in 20
23.
Skenes對國家的熱愛眾所皆知，他在空軍官校展開大學棒球之路，如今也與Gary Sinise Fo
undation合作，幫助退伍軍人、第一線應變人員及其家庭，這將是他自2023年以選秀狀元身
份進入大聯盟後，首次參加世界棒球經典賽
“When I was coming through high school,” Skenes said, “the thing that I thoug
ht I was going to be doing right now was flying jets rather than playing in Majo
r League Baseball stadiums against the best of the best.
Skenes說：「我在高中時，以為我現在會做的事情是駕駛戰機，而不是在大聯盟球場裡與世
界頂尖球員交手。」
“This is one thing as a fan of the game, watching the previous World Baseball C
lassics, that I was like, ‘If I ever get the chance to do this, I'm never sayin
g no.’ So this is going to be the first one.”

比賽，我絕對不會說不。』所以這將會是我第一次參賽」
Skenes will help anchor an American team that is looking to rebound after finish
ing runner-up to Japan in 2023. That Classic ended in epic fashion, as Shohei Oh
tani fanned Mike Trout in an all-time showdown.
Skenes將成為美國隊的重要先發投手之一，幫助球隊在2023年輸給日本、屈居亞軍後捲土重

“It was a pretty cool moment to watch it come down to those guys,” he said. “
